Common Core States Standards Initiative |

Forty-nine states and territories, including the Virgin Islands, have joined the Common Core States Standards Initiative. Governor John P. deJongh and Dr. Laverne Terry, Commissioner of Education have signed-on to the CCSSO intiative committing to a collaborative state-led process to develop a common core of standards in English-language arts and mathematics for grades K-12.
These standards will be research and evidence-based, internationally benchmarked, aligned with college and work expectations and include rigorous content and skills. More information is available from the CCSSO website.
