COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of
this certification program is to prepare individuals in all aspects of
upholstering furniture, including drapery and valance making, frame repair,
refinishing of exposed wood, industrial sewing machine operations, and vehicle
upholstering, as well as applied communications, shop management, and job
seeking skills.
Under the supervision of the instructor, the student performs procedures for
installation of drapery rods, repairing, arranging, and securing springs,
webbing, and padding; measuring, cutting, and sewing fabrics; filling, tufting,
channeling, and buttoning cushions.
In the vehicle upholstery course, instruction includes installing auto
headliners, fitting truck tonneau covers, upholstering seats, door panels, arm
rests, and other advanced vehicle jobs.
This program emphasizes safe and efficient work practices and included business
record keeping for the entrepreneur. The content is organized into
competency-based courses with specific occupational competencies the student
must successfully achieve.
We also provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently
employed in this occupation. (Adult Evening Program)
